Outlaw SLMs Invading Birch Run for The Big One

The Reveal The Hammer Outlaw Super Late Models will conclude a busy stretch of racing Friday night with The Big One at Birch Run Speedway.  Outlaw Super Late Models return to the facility just north of Flint for the first time since 2019, just two days after competing at Berlin Raceway as part of the Money in the Bank 150.

Steve Needles leads a strong field of drivers into Friday night’s event just after winning his second Kalamazoo Klash last weekend.  He won the most recent Outlaw SLM race held at Birch Run back in 2019.

Brian Bergakker, Adam Terry, Doug True and Jason Felver have all claimed track championships at tracks throughout Michigan.  They will all head to Birch Run in search of a win.

JR Roahrig has won all over the Midwest in an Outlaw SLM, but he has yet to visit victory lane at Birch Run.  He finished third at the Dixie Classic in 2018.

Two-time JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour champion Dan Leeck will trade in a template body for a wedge one to compete at his home track.  Kyle Crump will also compete close to home in the Crosstown Motorsports No.50.

Former Dixie Classic winner Mike Root is another driver planning on the double this week, traveling from the West side of Michigan.  Brian Maxim will also head east, while Brandyn Ross, Rick Hahn, Austin Davis, Michael Thayer and Shawn Amor will cross the Indiana/Michigan state line for Friday’s event.

After dominating at tracks throughout Ohio the past two years, Brandon Short will continue expanding his schedule with his first Birch Run start.  Flat Rock Speedway favorites Hayden Sprague, Chris Benson and Craig Everage, and Owosso Speedway regular Josh Hahn are also entered.

The full entry list can be seen below.

Friday will be the first time The Big One will be contested since 2018, when Steve Needles bested Brian Bergakker and Phil Bozell to score the win.  Other drivers to have won The Big One include multi-time Main Event Racing Series champion Bud Perry, past Summer Sizzler and Kalamazoo Klash champion Jeff Ganus, Dakota Carlson and Johnny VanDoorn.

Reveal The Hammer was started this season by former New Paris Speedway track owner Donny Klotz and former M40 Speedway track champions Jeff Vochaska and Rich Mersereau as a way to bring back a touring series to Outlaw Super Late Model racing.  Two races have been contested so far, with Needles taking the opener at New Paris Speedway and Tyler Roahrig winning at Anderson Speedway.

The Big One will be broadcast live on Speed51.TV for premium subscribers.  Click here to subscribe today.
