Lake View, SC  – A new event has emerged on the UMP Open Wheel Modified landscape and will be showcased in front of a nationwide audience. The inaugural DirtCup Challenge “Open Wheel Madness” on May 16-18 at Lake View Motor Speedway will air tape-delayed on MAVTV as part of Speed51’s popular “Short Track America.”

While more details about the event will be coming soon, the three-day weekend will see practice for UMP Modifieds on Thursday, May 16, followed by racing for the UMP Modifieds and support divisions, before culminating with the DirtCup Challenge “Open Wheel Madness” on Saturday night, May 18.

“We are excited to be able to showcase East Coast UMP Modifieds before a national audience on MAVTV,” said Bill Long of the DirtCup Challenge. “These guys are the baddest of the bad in Open Wheel Modified racing. You aren’t going to see faster Mods anywhere on dirt than what you will see at Lake View in May.”

The inaugural DirtCup Challenge Open Wheel Madness will be the first ever nationally televised event from the 4/10-mile Lake View Motor Speedway, located on the northeastern border of the two Carolinas. The hour-long program will include heat races and the main event and will air on Wednesday night, July 10 at 7 p.m. Eastern on Speed51’s Short Track America.

“Short Track America is all about grassroots facilities and Lake View Motor Speedway is a perfect fit for our program on MAVTV,” said Bob Dillner, the Executive Editor of Speed51.com. “Lake View owner Scott [Tripp] and his staff have done a great job resurrecting the facility into one of the top-notch dirt tracks in the South. The UMP Modifieds with their narrow tires and big horsepower will put on a great show at Lake View and we can’t wait to capture it with our cameras.”

The start to the 2019 season at Lake View Motor Speedway is just around the corner as the first green flag will drop on Saturday night, March 23 and feature Late Models, Sharp Mini Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Renegade, Stingerz, and Sport Mods.
