NOTES OF INTEREST:

 

  • Rookie of the Year Contenders- Three Drivers have declared they will be running for the Rookie of the Year in 2016; Brittney Zamora, Dirk Bennett and Toby Becker.
  • Two- Championships and no wins is how the first two seasons have gone for Garrett Evans. In twenty starts on the series, Evans has thirteen Top-5 finishes but is still looking for his first series win.
  • Show Me The Money!!! The 2016 Championship Prize Fund is set with over $20,000 in cash and awards up for grabs.
  • In the first Two Season of action the NWSLMS has seen thirteen different race winners in twenty races. Tayler Riddle leads the way with 4-career wins.
  • The Pollock Family has owned Yakima Speedway for 51 years and this will be their 50th running of the Apple Cup. The Apple Cup is one of the longest running short track events in the country.
  • The Wild “1” of Mitch Kleyn will be eyeing a championship in 2016. He is the only driver other than Evans to race in every series event since its inception. He’s finished second in the Championship for the first two seasons.
  • Girl Power!! Brittney Zamora will become the fifth female driver to compete in the series, joining Molly Helmuth, Stephanie Evans, Nicole Behar and Jessica Dana. Behar will also be racing this weekend, making the journey back to the Northwest from her new home in North Carolina.

 

STAT OF THE WEEK: WHO CAN SOLVE THE RIDDLE’S?

  • Brothers Owen and Tayler Riddle dominated the second half of last season across the Northwest and will look to continue that into the 2016 season. Tayler finished out the season winning two of the final three races, including the Fall Classic at Yakima Speedway. Owen finished with two podium finishes in the final three races, including a win at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval.

 

UPCOMING ON THE NORTHWEST SUPER LATE MODEL SERIES:

The Northwest Super Late Model Series heads to Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval for the running of the Leonard Evans 150, set for April 30. The event will pay $5,000 to the race winner with entries expected from across the Western United States and Canada.
