Super Late Model teams who have been invited to the Speed51 Super Select All-Star Race at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) are undoubtedly excited to tackle the 0.686-mile oval. They will, however, have to wait until the weekend of the $10,000-to-win event to turn laps at the facility.
No testing will be allowed at the Brownsburg, Indiana venue prior to the event, scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2019, the same weekend as the Brickyard 400 at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There will be ample practice time provided on Friday, September 6 as well as race day, but prohibiting all prior on-track activity will keep invitees from all over the country on a level playing field entering the All-Star event.
The Speed51 Super Select, initially planned for September 2018 before a postponement due to the effects of Tropical Storm Gordon, is a first-of-its-kind, winner-take-all race, featuring the winners of some of the biggest Super Late Model races in the country.
Currently, 22 drivers have received invitations to the Speed51 Super Select. Invitees include former NASCAR Champions Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth, as well as full-time NASCAR National Series campaigners Harrison Burton and Noah Gragson.
Some of the biggest names in Super Late Model racing have also been invited after marquee wins, including Bubba Pollard, Stephen Nasse, Ty Majeski, Derek Thorn, Johnny VanDoorn, Derek Griffith and many more. A full list of invitees can be seen below.
More invitations will be sent out to teams in the coming weeks before the first look at the entry list is revealed.
Drivers who don’t end up receiving invitations will be able to race their way into the field through a 50-lap race prior to the Super Select. There will also be a 100-lap USAC Silver Crown Series event as part of the Speed51 Super Select proceedings.
More information regarding the 2019 Speed51 Super Select will be announced soon, including a detailed schedule of the weekend’s events. Stay tuned to Speed51.com for more details about the event.
