It was a Pro Late Model doubleheader Saturday night at Mobile International Speedway (AL) with a bit of a twist. In what has become a fan favorite format, the PLM’s ran a 20 lap feature lined up from qualifying followed by a 30 lap feature which was completely inverted from the first race finish.

With points on the line for each race separately, there was no lagging back early for points leader Wayne ‘Junior’ Niedecken. The 58 year old Pensacola, Florida native came into the night as the winner of the only previous race for the Pro’s at Mobile in 2015, and left undefeated.

Niedecken started on the pole for race number one after setting fast-time in qualifying and led the entire 20 laps. He opened up a full straightaway advantage over Josh Bragg by the time the checkered flag waved.

For race number two, however, the invert sent him back to the ninth starting spot.

It took ten laps for Niedecken to break into the top three and just about the same amount of time for him to take the lead from Ronnie Osmer with 12 laps to go.

From there Niedecken cruised to the sweep to remain undefeated in 2015.

“The car was a little free in the second feature.” Niedecken explained after the race, “It was good though. I was able to cut the car in the corner

and that’s what you’ve got to do here at Mobile.”

Niedecken entered 2015 with some new confidence, “We found some stuff late last year so I knew we just had to tweak on that a little bit and we would be good.”

The secret to success for Niedecken to this point has been focusing solely on beating the track conditions as opposed to his fellow competitors.

“You’ve got to keep up with the tracks around here. In the summertime these tracks change a lot.” The veteran told Speed51.com powered by JEGS. “You can’t worry about the competition. If you tune to the racetrack and have that figured out, the competition will take care of itself.

“If you can’t beat the racetrack, you can’t beat the competition.”
