Troy, Michigan — As the 2014/2015 Winter Racing Season Opener for the Midwest Indoor Racing Series draws closer, fans and teams alike will notice an immediate different atmosphere in more ways than one upon arriving at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, Michigan on Friday-Saturday, November 28-29th. Perhaps the most important difference of all is the entirely new track and pit layout that will greet everyone as soon as they walk through the doors.
For the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Classic Weekend, the racetrack itself will be moved 15 feet towards the center of the arena. This will allow spectators on the grandstands side to be able to see the entire race track from any seat in the stands. In addition, the Mini Sprints will now pit where the front straight away use to be and will have their own pit road right in front of the fans.
“Our fans have suggestions and we are listening. This project is taking a lot of work to complete, but it’s well worth it.” explained Motor City Racing Promotions President, Scott Menlen. “This highly anticipated event will provide great racing and we don’t want anybody to miss a thing!” he added.
The 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Classic is set for Friday-Saturday, November 28-29th at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, Michigan. The weekend will feature two nights of racing starting on Friday, November 28th; the Non-Winged Mini Sprints will highlight the night with the special 30-Lap Thanksgiving Classic Friday Night Shootout. In addition, the Great Lakes Tire Go-Karts divisions of Opens, 360s, Heavy Clones, Senior Caged, Junior Caged, Gold Plate & Purple Plate will all be in action. The Quarter Midgets divisions of Junior Honda, Senior Honda, Light 160, Heavy 160, Senior Animal, Junior Animal and Heavy Honda will also be competing.
Then on Saturday, November 29th, the Non-Winged Mini Sprints return and will headline the weekend with the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Classic 50 which pays $500 to the winner. In addition, all of the Great Lakes Tire Go-Karts classes return for a second full night of racing highlighted by the 360s who will race for $500 to win. In action with the 360s on Saturday will be the Opens, Heavy Clones, Senior Caged, Junior Caged, Gold Plate & Purple Plate. Plus all of the Quarter Midget classes of Junior Honda, Senior Honda, Light 160, Heavy 160, Senior Animal, Junior Animal and Heavy Honda return for a second full night of racing as well.
