One of the most prestigious Super Late Model sim racing leagues is coming to Speed51 this winter. Speed51 and the Western Super Series presented by J2Racing.parts have joined forces to bring the action from each event to a live audience via a free broadcast on Speed51.
The Western Super Series is a fixed setup series held Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET. Entries for the league come from 26 states and four Canadian provinces, with driving experience ranging from Super Late Models, Pro Late, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, and even sim-only racers.
The current season is a 10-race season running 10 different short tracks from New Hampshire Motor Speedway to South Boston Speedway. The race format for the league consists of qualifying in which 10 drivers advance straight to the main, then heat racing determines the next nine spots. Those who don’t qualify through heat races have one more chance to make the feature through a last chance qualifier. A random draw between six and 12 decides the invert and starting lineup for the feature.
Drivers competing in the league are racing not only for a championship award, but also weekly awards from the presenting sponsor J2 Racing Parts out of Monroe, Washington. The winner and cleanest driver from each race score prizes ranging from apparel, gift certificates and race parts.
The first live broadcast of the Western Super Series on Speed51 will take place Tuesday night at 7 p.m. CT / 10 p.m. ET from the virtual Irwindale Speedway.
Three events remain in the current season before a new season begins January 21. For more information on the league, the upcoming season and how to join, visit the Western Super Series Facebook page.
