The short track racing world lost a key member of its family on Saturday afternoon. Longtime general manager of New Smyrna Speedway, Kim Brown, passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. Brown passed away peacefully at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at the age of 49.
New Smyrna Speedway wrote on its Facebook page that Brown was surrounded by family and friends on Saturday when she passed.
Brown joined New Smyrna Speedway as a full-time employee in 2007. Brown did everything at the track from race scoring to front office work before becoming the track’s general manager.
New Smyrna Speedway said details regarding a Celebration of Life event will be announced soon.
Brown’s family is requesting that donations be made to the Hart to Heart Breast Cancer Foundation at New Smyrna Speedway in honor of Kim Brown in lieu of flowers.
