New Season Begins Friday Night at Five Flags

The 2021 points season at Five Flags Speedway begins Friday night with local divisions being featured on the card.  The opener kicks off the 68th year of racing at the Pensacola oval, and the 18th season under the leadership of Tim Bryant.

The night’s events will be highlighted by a 50-lap feature for the Faith Chapel Outlaws.  The Pro Trucks will also have a 35-lap feature as they bring on a new title sponsor for the season, Proxy Equipment.  The Dock Pensacola Beach Sportsmen and Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks will also be in action with heat races and 25-lap and 20-lap features, respectively.

Awards will be presented to each of the 2020 season champions during pre-race festivities.  Bubba Winslow (Outlaws), Grant Thompson (Pro Trucks), Chad Robinson (Sportsmen) and Daryl McDonald (Pure Stocks) will be honored during opening ceremonies.

Pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m. CT for race teams, with practice set for 4:30.  Qualifying is set to take place at 7:00, with opening ceremonies slated for 7:45.  The first green flag of the 2021 season will drop at approximately 8:00 p.m. CT.

The 2021 season kicked off back in February with the ARCA Menards Series East coming to town alongside the Pure Stocks and Vore’s Compact Touring Series.  Sammy Smith emerged with his first-career ARCA win in the event.  The Sweat Hogg Grand Prix was completed on March 20, with Stevie Mercer taking the win.

Late Models first hit the track at Five Flags on Friday, April 30 with the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series opener.  They will also contest their second event on May 21 before the Super Late Models arrive in Pensacola for the Blizzard Series opener on June 4.  They will then have a doubleheader on July 23-24 before the Pro Late Models return for their third of four races on August 20.  Both the Blizzard Series and Allen Turner PLM Series will crown champions on Saturday, October 2.

The Modifieds of Mayhem will join the Pro Late Models on May 21 and Winged Sprint Cars on July 9.  Once again, the Modifieds of Mayhem championship will be decided at the Snowball Derby on Friday, December 3.

This all leads to the biggest race in the country, the 54th Annual Snowball Derby on December 2-5.

Friday night’s points opener at Five Flags Speedway will be streamed live on Speed51.TV.  Stay tuned to Speed51 for more information.
