New Hampshire Driver Wins ACT One at Oxford 250

Bryan Kruczek is beginning to take quite a liking to Oxford Plains Speedway.  The driver from Newmarket, New Hampshire came home victorious in the American-Canadian Tour portion of the “Night Before the Oxford 250,” leading almost the entire second half of the race on his way to Victory Lane.  It is Kruczek’s second ACT victory of the season at the track and his third overall at the Oxford, Maine oval.

Kruczek started 13th but saved his equipment and worked his way to the front over the first half of the race.  He pounced for the lead right at the halfway point and never looked back, nailing the final restarts to bring home the victory.

“It’s amazing, it’s definitely one of the big races I want to win if not the 250 at least,” Kruczek said in Victory Lane.  “This is a huge stage. I mean, the place is packed tonight.  It’s a Saturday night and there’s thousands of people here; it’s a good time.”

Kruczek survived a flurry of restarts at the end of the race to secure victory.  Other drivers gave him a run for his money, but he used the experience he gained in the ACT race in April to hold onto the lead.

“I learned in the spring, I got moved three-wide on a restart and I wasn’t doing that again,” Kruczek said.  “I did everything I could, even in practice I was practicing my rolling start, so it definitely worked out good for us today.”

Vermont driver Stephen Donahue had a strong run to finish second place, scoring yet another good finish in a big Late Model race.  He ran Kruczek down at the end and put up a good fight, but in the end finished just one spot short of the win.

“It’s only second but for me here it feels more like a win because we were second to last all practice all day long,” Donahue said after the race.  “We were struggling, the car just wouldn’t react, it was spinning the tires all over the place, and then we bolted the new tires on for the heat race and it took off.  We picked up eight tenths from the practice to the heat race.

“Finishing second is awesome and it’s Oxford. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and I finally got to race here this year and I struggled here the first time I came, but to get second in only my second attempt I’m very happy.”

Defending series champion Scott Payea brought home a strong third-place finish at a track that has historically not been one of his best.

“I feel great, I feel like we won,” Payea said.  “We’re either really good or really bad here, there’s nothing in between, and today we were bad all day long.  It was terrible, but the team never gave up.  We changed more things today than I think we have in two years.  It’s a tough track, the outside wasn’t really there, so we’ll take what we can get and we feel good about it.”

Series points leader Rich Dubeau came home fourth, while Payea’s cousin Dylan Payea rounded out the top five.  Jimmy Hebert, Alexandre Tardif, Ryan Kuhn, Trent Goodrow, and Quinten Welch completed the top ten.

Saturday night’s ACT race leads into Sunday’s big show, the 46th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  Race fans can watch the race live on’s pay-per-view broadcast by clicking here.
