NEMA Midgets Return to Maine’s Fastest Oval Saturday

Another great racing event that was scrubbed in 2020, now back for 2021 is set to roll this weekend as Maine’s Fastest Oval welcomes back one of the Northeast’s fastest classes of racecars. Since 2015, Wiscasset Speedway has become a go-to stop for the winged warriors of the Northeastern Midget Association, with both the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites wowing the race fans in the Pine Tree State.

With the aforementioned one year absence behind them, the NEMA Midgets and Lites are heading to their northernmost venue for the first of two visits on the racing season this coming Saturday, June 26. Race fans who can’t make it to the Maine Coast will be able to enjoy not just the two NEMA divisions, but Wiscasset’s home guard on Speed51.TV.

This will also be the second time this June the NEMA Midgets and Lites will take the spotlight on Speed51.TV, with both classes fresh off their annual marquee event, the Boston Louie Memorial at Seekonk Speedway down in Massachusetts. Paul Scally collected the honors in the 29-lap NEMA Midget feature, finally winning the race that had eluded him throughout years. The NEMA Lites wowed the audience, with their 50-lap feature coming down to a thriller between one of their own, Jake Trainor holding off one of America’s best, Ken Schrader for the checkered flag.

Last time NEMA made it up to Wiscasset in September of 2019, it was seven-time NEMA Midget champion Randy Cabral taking the trophy in the Midget class, while Ryan Locke’s win in the Lites helped to secure himself the 2019 NEMA Lite title at season’s end.

Also for the second time in June, Wiscasset’s own racers will be in the spotlight following the Coastal 200 just two weeks prior. Late Models, Modifieds, and Strictly Streets will all be in action this Saturday night alongside the NEMA Midgets and Lites.

Post time for Saturday’s racing is 5pm ET, the same time Speed51’s cameras will go live. Speed51.TV yearly and monthly subscribers can see all of this week’s action from Wiscasset.
