It took just seven laps for Steve Needles to put his No. 18 Outlaw Super Late Model out front at Toledo Speedway (OH) in the ARCA Gold Cup race.  Needles started fourth, but quickly and methodically worked his way by the top qualifiers to take the lead and the win.

Needles moved into the lead when the caution flag waved on the seventh lap of the race.  After passing Jeff Ganus for second, Needles inherited the lead when Alex Rosenberry went to pit road with a problem while leading.

From there it was all Needles out front for the remainder of the 100-lap event.  But Needles almost lost the race when the caution flag waved with six laps remaining.

Needles restarted on the inside of Brad Reithmeyer, but Reithmeyer got a better restart.  Reithmeyer put his No. 56 machine out front for a brief second going into turn one, but Needles fought back to take over the lead and drive away to the win.

“He had me beat going into turn one,” said Needles.  “He probably could have chopped me there, but I appreciate that he drove me clean and we got back by him.”

Brent Jack, Ganus and Dennis Strickland completed the top five in a race that saw the yellow flag wave four times.

“It wasn’t as easy as it looked,” said Needles in victory lane.  “The car was awesome and it was easy to drive.  All these guys that come out here run well.  They’re tough competitors and they made it hard on me there the last couple of restarts.  The car was awesome and we came out on top.”
