Nearly 40 Vores Compacts Entered for Winchester

As part of a busy Labor Day weekend program, the Vores Compact Touring Series will compete in a 35-lap feature around the high banks of Winchester Speedway.  Nearly 40 competitors have entered the event, promising a star-studded field around the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile.”

The feature field will consist of 30 cars, with qualifying and a last chance race helping to set the field for the Vores Compact main event.  There are 14 former Vores Compact Touring Series winners among the 38 entries currently filed for the race.

The most recent Vores winner at Winchester was Bo Hoelscher, taking the checkered flag as part of last year’s Winchester 400 weekend.  He is a four-time Winchester winner and will be looking to add to that tally on Saturday night.

The Gossar name also carries four wins at Winchester, between Tom and Trent Gossar.  The family swept all three Vores Compact Touring Series events at Winchester in 2018, with Trent winning the first two and Tom closing out the year with a win.  Tom Gossar proceeded to also win at Winchester in 2019.

Other former Winchester winners entered in Saturday’s field include Mark Mason, Justin Brown, Terry Eaton, Jr., Gary Eaton, Jr., Chris Jennings and Aaron Teegarden.

There will be a bonus opportunity on the line for one Vores Compact Touring Series competitor this weekend as well.  By virtue of winning at Five Flags Speedway in February, Kyle Frame is eligible for the $200 Pest Doctor Bug Free Bonus if he also wins Saturday at Winchester.  The program pays $200 to any driver who can win two of three races between Five Flags, Winchester and the October 30 feature at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway during All American 400 weekend.  If Frame is able to sweep all three races, the program will instead pay $500.
