Holly, Mich. — The Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series travel to the historic Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan this Saturday, August 23rd to determine the 2014 series points championship. The third annual Engine Pro “Fast Car Slash” featuring qualifying, heat races, and the “Fast Car Slash” with the night’s fastest eight qualifiers lining up fully inverted for eight high speed laps. The finishing order will determine the front starting spots for the thirty lap feature event.
With 40 different drivers from across the country and Canada it has been a season of intense competition for the MSR Xtreme sprint cars. This year MSR has had six different winners out of nine events. Brian Gerster, the current points leader, Aaron Pierce and Jimmy McCune have each recorded two victories. 2012 MSRXSS Champion JoJo Helberg, 2013 & 2014 Little 500 winner Jacob Wilson, and 2010 & 2011 MSRXSS Champion Troy DeCaire have also visited the MSR Winners Circle in 2014. Brian Gerster, Jimmy McCune, Aaron Pierce, Troy DeCaire and Ryan Litt are leading the points intoSaturday’s event with Ryan Gillenwater, Jacob Wilson, Jim Sheets, JoJo Helberg and Tyler Underwood filling out the top ten in the championship points chase.
The night has added significance with Toledo, Ohio star Jimmy McCune and Indiana’s Brian Gerster carrying the points lead into the final round of the Michigan Must See Seven Miniseries Championship. McCune, who has finished in the top three of every MSR event this year, holds a slim lead over Gerster with Aaron Pierce, Troy DeCaire and Ryan Gillenwater nipping at their heels in the hunt for the title, trophies and cash awards.. Canadian Ryan Litt, Tyler Underwood, Billy Wease, John Turnbull Jr. and Hall of Famer Jeff Bloom round out the top ten Michigan Must See Sevencontenders.
Tim Cox, David Byrne, Dave Baumgartner, Davey Hamilton Jr., Dustin Daggitt, Sondi Eden, Cody Hoover, Ike Beasley and Cody Gallogly are also expected to compete for the night’s feature win.
MSRXSS will complete the season with the new “LABOR DAY 200” August 30th at Anderson Speedway, The 49th“NATIONAL SHORT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS” at Loves Park, Illinois’s Rockford Speedway on September 28th and the 55th annual “JOE JAMES/PAT O’CONNOR MEMORIAL” on the ½ mile high banks of Salem Speedway on October 4th.
The Engine Pro “Fast Car Slash” opens with the first round of practice at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a full program of time trials, heat races, Fast Car Slash all capped by a 30-lap showdown on the sweeping paved oval. At night’s end the 2014 MSRXSS champion will be crowned.
