The roar of ground-pounding Modifieds in the Northeast will be heard for the first time this year when Mahoning Valley Speedway (PA) opens the season Saturday, June 13 with the 77-lap John “Peepers” Yerger Tribute race. While the race will be open to fans, fans around the Northeast who are hungry for Modified racing will be able to watch live via a pay-per-view broadcast on Speed51.
The live broadcast on Speed51 will be available worldwide for $20, which matches the price of a general admission ticket for the event.
In addition to the headlining Modified feature, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Pro 4s and Rookie Hobby Stocks will also be in action. All feature racing will be showcased on the live Speed51 pay-per-view broadcast.
As the first Modified race in the Northeast, a strong field of drivers is expected for Saturday night’s race. 2011 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ron Silk, seven-time RoC Modified Series champion Matt Hirschman, four-time RoC champion Chuck Hossfeld and six-time Turkey Derby winner Jimmy Blewett are just some of the stars expected to enter the event. They’ll be going up against a strong field of Mahoning Valley stars including defending champion Bobby Jones, Kyle Strohl, Brian Defebo and Earl Paules, Regional stars like the father-son combo of Eric and Austin Beers will also be in attendance chasing a big victory.
Mahoning Valley will be one of the few asphalt speedways in action throughout the Northeast and is anticipating a great turnout of cars across all divisions.
