Mooresville, N.C.  This weekend marks the halfway point of the 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season at the historic Winchester Speedway. During the first half of the season sophomore driver and first year owner Mason Mitchell has impressed with nine top-ten finishes, five top-five finish and three runner-up’s which has him second in championship points.

No race weekend during the season means more to Mitchell and Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) than this weekend when America celebrates its independence.

“It’s an honor for me and my race team” Mitchell added. “This might be the first time in my career I’ve raced on the holiday weekend and I’m excited. I love America and can’t thank the men and women that protect this amazing country.”

To commemorate America’s Independence, Mitchell will carry a special designed No. 98 with an American flag theme.

“I’m really looking forward to having an American flag theme. I’ve always tried to do something on my cars around this time of the year. I hope we have a great turn out at the track and on the CBS Sports Network Sunday.”

Mason Mitchell Quotes on Winchester

“Winchester and Salem are quite similar especially the driving line and the banking. Salem is a lot rougher, Winchester doesn’t wear the tires as bad as Salem. I really enjoy racing at both tracks.”

“We decided to bring a brand new short track car to Winchester this weekend. We are starting to get into a rhythm and learn our cars better.”

Mitchell at Winchester Speedway: Mitchell has one prior start at Winchester Speedway in 2013 starting 7th and finishing 5th. Mitchell also led 15 laps during the 200 lap event.

Elko Review: Mitchell started outside the top-ten for just the second time in 2014 at Elko. Mitchell worked his way inside the top-ten before sustaining right front damage in a lap three incident. The No. 98 team battled back to finish tenth.

Streaking:Since starting his own team for the 2014 ARCA Racing Season, Mitchell has earned nine top-10 finishes, five top-5 finishes, two poles (Toledo, Michigan) and has an average finish of 5.2  his top-10 streak is now at 18 races dating back to last August at Pocono Raceway

Chassis: Mitchell will debut a new chassis this weekend at Winchester chassis No. 5889 built out of the MMM shop
