LAKE VIEW, SC — Roanoke Rapids, NC’s Willie Milliken denied a hungry 22- car field of Late Model bounty hunters Saturday night at Lake View Motor Speedway for his fifth win of the season. For his efforts, Milliken received a $500 bonus for defending his turf against his fellow Late Model competitors.
Milliken, known affectionately in dirt track racing circles as “The Wild Child,” took the $150 Tidewater Landscaping Pole Award with a lap of 17.562 seconds around the 3/8-mile track. At the start, Milliken jumped into the lead over season opening winner, Dean Bowen. Milliken led flag-to-flag to take the win over Bowen, Shaun Sewell, Mark Dysart, and Kerry Gibbons. With his win, the bounty on Milliken, which stands in excess of $1500, will carry over to next Saturday night’s Late Model feature at Lake View.
The Mid-East Modified tour made their first ever stop at Lake View Motor Speedway with Hank Taylor taking the checkered flag in the event sponsored by Horry Carpet & Tile. Rounding out the top five were Chris Stowe, who also competed in the Super Street and Pure Stock divisions, Kevin Pangrazio, Jake Gibbons, and Jeremy Steele.
Greg Cain claimed his second checkered flag in-a-row at Lake View in the Super Street division. Pole sitter, Chris Powers, bounced back from an off track excursion on the opening lap to finish second, over points leader, Scott Lewis, Johnny Moore, and Steve Reeves.
After winning at Fayetteville Motor Speedway on Friday night, Case Daniels completed the weekend sweep by winning his first ever Pure Stock race at Lake View. Rounding out the top five were Chris Stowe, Chandler Fowler, Brad Harrelson, and Buck Causey.
Likewise, Glenn Register also swept the weekend as he took the $300 win in the U-CAR special event. Rounding out the top five were Richard Seals, Jr., Derek Kemper, points leader, Kyle Jenks, and Levi Smith.
Chris Weatherford bounced back from a spin to overtake his brother, Kevin, for his first 4-Cylinder win of the season. Following the Weatherford brothers to the checkered flag were Jason Floyd, Anthony Morris, and Skip Whisnant.
And, the popular Mini Late Models returned to Lake View with Walker Singletary capturing the win over Johnny Pridgen, Albert Brayfield, Daulton Wilson, and Jayson Didonna.
Lake View Motor Speedway will be in action next Saturday night, July 28 with Late Models, which will again include the bounty on Willie Milliken, as well as racing for the Super Street, Pure Stock, 4-Cylinders, and U-Cars.
