Whitesville, KY – Mike Hadley Jr. completed the sweep and captured the Winged Outlaw Figure 8 Series (WOFS) feature at Kentucky Motor Speedway Sunday night. Hadley lead all 50 laps from his pole starting position after setting quick time with a lap of 20.63 seconds. Hadley’s time was also a new track record.

Hadley was never seriously challenged for most of the race. The real battle of the night was between second and third position between Ronnie Basham III and RJ Norton Jr. Norton pressured him the majority of the race without success. Following Hadley to the line was: Basham III, Norton Jr., Calvin Crain, and Richard Dickens rounding out the top five.

The Hadley victory made him the fourth different winner in as many races in 2014. Hadley had finished no worse than third in the three previous WOFS events contested. Many observers agree that it was only a matter of time before Hadley captured a WOFS feature event. Hadley gained the points lead after the April 5 opener at Anderson Speedway, and has yet to relinquish the point lead through four events.

“We made a lot of changes today” explained Hadley after his win. ”We were able to get out in some clean air. This is really a driver’s track where you really have to drive the car. The track is hard on tires. I was told to save the tires and still run as hard as I can. I’ve never been here before and I’m really excited how things went tonight. I’m glad we could get one and now I’m excited about getting to run next weekend’s National Crown” concluded Hadley.

It will be a short week for WOFS teams as they prepare for their biggest race of the season. The 65th annual National Crown will see “The Fastest Figure 8 Cars in the World” battling for 100 laps at the legendary Anderson Speedway. The National Crown is the nations oldest continuously run stock car event. The National Crown pre-dates event the famed Daytona 500. The National Crown will also feature the largest one-day purse for these type of cars, with the winning taking home $3,000.
