It was an action packed weekend of racing across the Midwest. Here is a look at who made their way to Victory Lane and how point battles are shaping up across the region.
Illinois

 

Grundy County Speedway – Fast timer Tony Scalpelli Jr. brought home the victory in the 47-lap Late Model feature.  Boris Jurkovic, John Nutley, Larry Schuler and Brett Sontag rounded out the top-five.  Grundy has a full slate of racing action on tap again this Friday night.  Point standings are not up to date as of August 21.

 

Rockford Speedway – Michael Bilderback picked up his second straight win at Rockford Speedway Saturday night.  Bilderback took the lead on lap 7 and never looked back, meanwhile Jake Gille grabbed his eighth second-place finish of the year.  With three races remaining, Jake Gille leads Bilderback by 21 points in the Late Model standings.
Indiana

 

Anderson Speedway – No results available as of Monday afternoon.  Anderson Speedway hosts The City of Anderson Sesquicentennial Night at the Races takes place this Saturday, August 29.

 

Angola Motor Speedway – Steve Woods won the Late Model Sportsman race at Angola Motor Speedway Saturday night with Cory Setser, Tony Dager, Tommy Cook and Brandon Barcus rounding out the top five.  Robby Henderson claimed victory in the Modifieds with Jeremy Wallen second, Jason Timmerman third, Aaron Timmerman fourth and Darwin Wolfe fifth. Angola has a full night of racing slated for this Saturday, August 29.

 

Illiana Motor Speedway – No results available as of Monday afternoon.  Racing returns this Saturday night for fan appreciation night.

 

New Paris Speedway – Jack Landis edged JR Roahrig in the Paul Miller Memorial 75 at New Paris Speedway Saturday night for a $2,000 pay day.  Kenny Whitman finished third, Brent Jack fourth and Craig Everage fifth.  Season championships will be held this Saturday night for Late Model Sportsman and more.

 

Salem Speedway fueled by the Hoosier Lottery – It’s Kid’s night this Saturday night.  Lucas Oil Great American Stocks, Portland Recycling Front Wheel Drive Stocks and Midwest Thunder Roadsters will all be on track for racing action.

 

South Bend Motor Speedway – Roch Boal held off challenges from Charlie Hanna and Joe Coffin to win the Outlaw Late Model race at SBMS Saturday night.  Hanna, however picked up his second consecutive Outlaw Late Model title. The regular season has come to a close, but this Saturday will be the “Big Bend 2-Asphalt’s Revenge.”

 

Winchester Speedway – Winchester Speedway is off until their Labor Day Weekend Special.
Iowa

 

Hawkeye Downs Speedway – Tim Plummer led from green to checkers Friday night at Hawkeye Downs Speedway, while Brian Gibson locked up the point championship with a second-place finish.  While the regular season is over at Hawkeye Downs Speedway, there is still one more race on the schedule when the ARCA Midwest Tour pays a visit to the track in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, September 5.

 

Michigan

 

Auto City Speedway – Auto City is back in action next weekend after a weekend off.  The Auto Value Super Sprints are on track with championship races for the Mods and Pro Late Models.

 

Berlin Racway – Ross Meeuwsen took the checkers in the Super Late Model divisions at Berlin Raceway Saturday night.  Brian Campbell finished second, Andrew Nylaan third, Jordan Dahlke fourth and Joe Bush fifth.  The point standings are tight with Tom Thomas leading Brian Campbell by eight points and Ross Meeuwsen is in third just nine points back.

 

Flat Rock Speedway – The re-scheduled Corrigan Race Fuels 100-lap Street Stock race took place Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway and it was Greg Strudt who captured the $1,000 pay day.  Season champions will be crowned across all divisions this Saturday, August 29th.

 

Galesburg Speedway – Galesburg, MI

 

Kalamazoo Speedway – Mike ‘Bubba’ Brooks won the 7UP Shootout Saturday night at Kalamazoo Speedway.  Brooks started deep in the field and drove to the front. Jeff Bozell finished second, Todd Currier third, Matt Frazier fourth and Mark Shook fifth.  Shook owns just a nine point lead over Brooks with two events left in the season.

 

Norway Speedway – Dan Lindsley won the 35-lap Late Model feature Friday night at Norway Speedway.  Norway is right back at it this Friday with a full night of racing.  With just a few races left, Dillon Kralovetz leads the Late Model points by 126 over Cory Cootware.

 

Onaway Speedway – Onaway Speedway took the weekend off before their point championships this Saturday night In the Mod division, Brian Baumgarten has a 72-point lead over second place Jay Palumbo.

 

Owosso Speedway – Todd Rosebrugh won the 100-lap Super Late Model feature Saturday night at Owosso Speedway.  Rosebrugh won three of the four SLM Cup Races between Auto City and Owosso Speedway, however it was Johnny Belott who claimed the SLM Cup title.  The JEGS/CRA All-Star Series descends on Owosso Speedway this Satrday night for 100 laps of racing action.

 

Springport Motor Speedway – Justin Claucherty won the Outlaw Super Late Model race at Springport Motor Speedway, but it was Dan Krzywosinski who captured the season championship.
Minnesota

 

Elko Speedway – Elko Speedway rained out on Saturday night.  This Saturday is the Eve of Destruction before Late Models and more are back on track on September 5.

 

 

 

Missouri

 

I-44 – JC Newell won the Late Model feature at I-44 Speedway Saturday night.  Kaleb Allison, Paul Jepsen, Brennon Willard and Steve Holt rounded out the top five.  Newell currently leads Allison in the point standings by just under 100 points.  I-44 has a full night of racing scheduled for this Saturday, August 29.

 

Ohio

 

Columbus Motor Speedway – Kevin Mingus took the checkers in the Late Model divisions at Columbus Motor Speedway Saturday night.  Cody Robinson finished second, Kyle Jones third, Ryan Fleming fourth and fast qualifier Chad Pendleton fifth.  Columbus Motor Speedway is back in action this Saturday with the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Models and support divisions.  It will be a special Saturday afternoon of racing with free admission to all fans.

 

Lorain County Speedway – Lorain County Speedway was back on track after a week off.  Jeremy Wiggins crossed the finish line first, but had trouble is post-race inspection and was disqualified.  That handed the win to T.J. Stineman, who finished second.  Lorain is off again this week, but gets back on track September 5th with Mod-Mania Topless NCMC 50 Lap Qualifier #6.

 

Midvale Speedway – All five divisions were in action Saturday night at Midvale Speedway.  Alex Rosenberry claimed the win in the Late Model divisions.  This Saturday night, August 29, will feature Late Model and Mod Twin 50’s.

 

Sandusky Speedway – Results not available.  This Saturday night it’s the Jaycox/Reed Memorial Race with the MSA Supermodifieds and more.

 

Toledo Speedway – After a week off Toledo Speedway returns to action this Friday night with championship night and the night of destruction.  Season champions will be crowned in the Late Model Sportsmen, Figure 8 and Factory Stock divisions and there will be a night of destruction with School Bus Figure 8’s, Boat Figure 8’s and more.

 

 

 

Wisconsin

 

Dells Raceway Park – Rich Schumann Jr. scored his second Late Model win of the season Saturday at Dells Raceway Park.  The Super Late Models are back on track this Saturday at DRP with a 60-lap feature, while Late Models have the weekend off.  Steve Dobbratz owns a 19 point lead over Schumann in the Late Model points, while Tim Schendel paces the Super Late Model standings.

 

Golden Sands Speedway – Golden Sands Speedway is off until Monday, September 7 when the TUNDRA Series pays a visit.

 

Jefferson Speedway – The final round of the Badgerland Challenge was held Saturday night at Jefferson Speedway.  The Limited Late Model three-race series, which also held events at Madison International Speedway and Slinger Speedway, put on quite a show as Stephen Scheel and Casey Johnson raced door-to-door to the checkered flag.  Scheel took the victory, but the runner-up finish was enough to hand Johnson the overall Badgerland Challenge Championship by just two points.

 

La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway – It was the final night of regular season racing at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway.  The Carlsons swept the twin Super Late Model races with Mike Carlson taking the checkers in the first race and dad, Steve, winning the second.  Steve Carlson already had the Late Model championship locked up heading into the final night of regular season racing.

 

Madison International Speedway – Ty Majeski picked up the win in the Howie Lettow 50, which also served at the third and final leg of the Triple Crown Series.  This was Majeski’s second Triple Crown win of the season, but due to mechanical problems in the second race, it wasn’t enough for the overall title.  That award went to Jeremy Miller, who brought home a second-place finish Friday night.  MIS is back in action Friday, August 28 with Scout Night and twin features for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Models.

 

Marshfield Speedway – No results available as of Saturday afternoon.  This Saturday night is season championship night at Marshfield Speedway.

 

Slinger Speedway – Dennis Prunty recorded the clean sweep Sunday night at Slinger Super Speedway, winning round three of the Pepsi Challenge.  The win handed Prunty the overall lead in a tight point battle with Steve Apel, but Apel emerged as the winner of the three-race Pepsi Challenge.  Prunty’s lead is just one point with two points-counting races left this season.  Cars are back in action this Sunday at Slinger.

 

State Park Speedway – A new format for the Kocourek Automotive Lodi Memorial Race presented by Bartelt Insurance played right into the hands of Tim Sauter Thursday night.  Sauter led the final 66 laps to bring home his second straight Lodi Memorial win.  State Park Speedway has one race left on its schedule.  Thursday, August 27 will be the 6th annual Fighting Cancer Full Throttle 60 and championship night, where champions will be decided across all divisions.  Jeremy Lepak owns a 50-point lead over defending champ MG Gajewski.

 

Wisconsin International Raceway – Sawyer Effertz grabbed his first win of the year at Wisconsin International Raceway on Thursday night.  Effertz took the lead on lap 13 and held off challengers on late race restarts for the win.  With two nights of racing left Lowell Bennett holds a 13 point lead over Brett Piontek in the Super Late Model standings.
