Lakeland, FL — Showtime Speedway owner Robert Yoho quickly set the tone for the evening by announcing that qualifying for the Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman Series Presented by Gagels Auto Parts 50 Lap race would take place after intermission and then immediately, without any adjustments whatsoever, would turn around and run the Feature event.

Devin McCleod set the QA1 Fast Qualifier Award, but an invert of seven would make the Zephryhills, FL driver work hard if he wanted to take home the coveted Brandon Ford Wheel Man trophy.

Lakeland, FL driver Craig Cuzzone started on the front row and held on for a solid fifht-place finish, while Jesse Henley followed up his strong third-place run in race one of the Series with a fourth-place finish for the Henley Grading Chevrolet out of Homosassa, FL.

The #157 of Jason Rendell also backed up his previous impressive run at Citrus County Speedway, leading the field through the first half of the race. Unfortunately, lapped traffic slowed the Lakeland, FL driver just enough to allow second and third-place drivers to slide past, and Rendell would have to settle for third and the Five Star Bodies Hard Luck Award.

The battle between last week’s winner, Aaron Williamson and the #5 of Devin McCleod was epic. Racing was tight as both drivers took turns brushing the outside retaining wall while battling for the lead. Williamson never backed out of the throttle, going side-by-side with McCleod for several laps, but at the end, settled for second.

McCleod’s driving skills were on display all evening as fans watched the #5 car work and weave his way through traffic, earning him the “Driven Hard Charger Award.” He also was awarded the Sweet Steering “Sweet Move of the Race” when he took advantage of lapped traffic to pass the leader on lap 26. McCleod had to use all his talent to keep both Williamson and Rendell behind the #5 as he crossed the stripe for his 1st Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman Series victory.

Roger Welch, Brooke Storer, Steve Barnes, Colton Bramlett and Anthony LaPoint rounded out the top 10.

Winners of the Gagels Auto Parts 4 Tire Give-Away were Craig Cuzzone, Aaron Williamson, Roger Welch and Thomas Zimmerman.

The next event for the Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman Series Presented by Gagels Auto Parts will be back at Showtime Speedway on April 15th.  Pre-registration will begin on April 3rd and is required to be eligible for most the contingency awards, so once announced, we strongly urge drivers and teams to call Racecar Engineering at 800-882-7231 to do so.
