New Egypt, NJ – Short Load Concrete of Paterson, NJ has come on board to present the May Modified Madness Rookie of the Year award. The rookie that advances the furthest in the twenty-four car bracket will take home $200 cash on May 30th courtesy of Short Load Concrete.


To be considered a rookie for the series you must have made FIVE (5) or less Big or Small Block dirt Modified starts prior to the 2015 season at any track during your racing career.


Some of the May Modified Madness Rookie Contenders include:


Andrew Bohn # 659 – Andrew’s family has a long history of racing in the State of New Jersey dating back to his grandfather Parker, his father Eddie, and brothers Mike and Danny whom which was the track champion at the Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston Salem, NC last year. Andrew made four 358 Modified starts in 2014 driving for long time car owner Randall Reid.


Mikey Butler #04 – Mikey was your 2014 New Egypt Speedway Crate Modified champion driving the Short Load Concrete #04. Mikey has many wins to his resume including a 2011 Atlantic City Indoor Race Slingshot win. Like the Bohn’s the Butler’s also have an extensive racing history in the Garden State.


Bryan Kuhl #37 – Bryan has been a point contender in the Crate Modified division the past few years after competing in Go-Karts and SS Sprint’s at New Egypt Speedway. Again like the names before him Bryan’s family is also a familiar name in the Garden State with his family operating Flemington Speedway for many years.


Chad Barney #84 – Chad has been racing for a number of years now mostly in the Sportsman ranks at New Egypt Speedway but before that he ran Legends Cars at Wall Stadium. Chad took the 2014 season off to put his 358 Modified together which happens to be a former Jimmy Blewett chassis. Yet again the Barney’s have a lot of history around NJ with Chad’s Uncle Dick owning one of the most famous asphalt modified’s in existence.


Patrick Gold #80 – Patrick is a relatively newcomer to New Egypt Speedway, He was a rookie sportsman competitor in 2013 and ran Crate Modified’s in 2014. During the week Patrick serves for the US Air Force at nearby Fort Dix.


Chuck Steuer #11x – Chuck a former asphalt modified champion at the Riverhead Raceway on Long Island makes the long haul to NES weekly to compete. Steuer has also been toward the top of the point standings the past couple seasons with the Crate Modified’s.


Jimmy Martin #4 – Jimmy is aboard the Saxton Motorsports #4 at NES in 2015. Jimmy ran select Crate Modified’s in 2014 before making the big jump to the 358 Modified’s for 2015.


The 2015 May Modified Madness season launches on Friday May 1st at the May Modified Madness Kick-off Party at Liberty Toyota Scion in Burlington, NJ and continues throughout the four 358 Modified features in May at New Egypt Speedway.
