(Mooresville, N.C.) It’s been named “the coolest trophy in all of motorsports” a Crosley Radio Jukebox given to the winner of the ARCA-Mobile 200. Saturday afternoon marks the fourth annual event at Mobile International Speedway (MIS). It also marks the first short track event of the 2015 season for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. One year ago, Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) earned its first top-five finish at the half-mile track finishing third in only their second start in the ARCA Racing Series.

“Mobile take a lot of rhythm, it’s one of the slower half-mile tracks we race at” Mitchell stated. “We tested here last weekend and really learned a lot about the new cars. I think it’s going to be a game changer this year. Our short track program is stronger than it was one year ago when we finished third. I really think we have two solid opportunities to win on Saturday with Austin and myself driving.”

2014 Scott Rookie of the Year Austin Wayne Self finished 15th at Daytona International Speedway last month in his debut with MMM driving the No. 98 AM Technical Solutions Ford. Self finished 12th one year ago in his debut at MIS and is looking for more this year.

“My first ARCA race of the 2014 season was the Mobile race last year” Self added. “It was an important learning experience. We had a shock failure and some bad luck getting collected by another car in last year’s race. We still ended up 12th so I know we can improve upon those results this time around. I really love this race and all the people that put it on. Tommy Praytor and the ARCA staff do an awesome job with the events at this race. Testing went well so I also think we’ll be really fast when we unload!”

Daytona in the Rear: Self and Mitchell both qualified outside the top-20 for the season opener at DIS but it didn’t take long for both teammates to find themselves inside the top-ten. Mitchell ran as high as second before settling for sixth. Self ran as high as sixth before a late race shuffle relegated the sophomore driver to 15th at the finish.

Self & Mitchell on Short Tracks: In 14 short track starts in the ARCA Racing Series Self’s earned 6 top-five’s, 12 top-ten’s and an average finish of 6.0. Mason Mitchell is no stranger to short tracks on the ARCA Racing schedule. In 20 short track starts Mitchell’s earned eight top-five’s, sixteen top-ten’s with an average finish of 7.9.

ARCA Fan Fest: Thursday March 12th fans will have the opportunity to meet Austin Wayne Self and Mason Mitchell at the ARCA Fan Fest autograph session from 5:00-6:00 p.m. CDT. Chassis: Self will strap in behind the wheel of chassis 588 Saturday, a new composite body for MMM in 2015. Mitchell will hop behind the wheel of a familiar chassis for MMM at Mobile, chassis 589. Mitchell raced the chassis four times in 2014 all resulting in top-five finishes and three runner-up’s. While Self will race the new composite body Mitchell has elected to race the old body.
