(Mooresville, N.C.) With the 2014 ARCA Racing season quickly winding down second year driver Mason Mitchell holds a narrow 25 point lead over Grant Enfinger. This weekend marks the second and final dirt race of the 2014 season. Mitchell finished second earlier this month at the Springfield Mile after driving from sixth to second in the final laps.
“We’re bringing the same car to DuQuoin that finished second a few weeks ago at Springfield” Mitchell stated. “Even though Springfield and DuQuoin look similar they’re actually quite different. Springfield’s corners are a lot longer than DuQuoin’s. DuQuoin’s straightaways are longer than Springfield’s. Last year we finished higher at DuQuoin than we did at Springfield. I’m very confident heading into Monday’s race.”
Mitchell at DuQuoin: Mason Mitchell has one prior start at the “Magic Mile” starting 11th and finishing 6th. Mitchell came from 15th to 6th in the final 10 laps in 2013.
Dirt Stats:In three prior dirt starts in his ARCA Racing career Mason Mitchell has an average finish of 5th with three top-ten’s, one top-five and a best finish second in his last start at Springfield.
Madison in the Rearview: Mitchell led the first 35 laps before Grant Enfinger made the pass for the lead. Mitchell would retake the lead on lap 53 and pit under yellow at lap 61. Mitchell positioned the No. 98 in the second spot until lap 172. Mitchell recaptured the lead on lap 180 until he lost power the following lap. The No. 98 suffered an electrical
problem finishing 19 laps down in the 14th spot.
Chassis: Mitchell will strap in behind the wheel of chassis No. 589. Chassis 589 has two prior starts in 2014 at Winchester and Springfield both resulting in second place finishes.
