Throughout his career in the ARCA Midwest Tour, Wisconsin’s Ty Majeski has set many records. That did not change Saturday night at Rockford Speedway (IL) when he not only set a new track record, but also a series record of five consecutive wins. However, the fashion in which he won left many fans and some fellow drivers frustrated.

Austin Nason started from the pole position for the 100-lap feature and was able to hold the rest of the field off for 97 of those laps. With many cautions aiding his drive to the front, Majeski, who started eighth, was able to move up to second with 32 laps to go.

300x250 51 Network 2017(2)The battle for the lead then ensued as Majeski sat on the bumper of Nason and looked to make a pass on the inside. While it looked like Nason would hold off Majeski and Casey Johnson for the biggest win of his career, with three laps to go the two leaders made contact, resulting in Nason being pushed up the banking and Majeski driving his No. 91 to victory lane.

“I got into him a little bit off of four,” Majeski said after the race. “I went down into two and slid him up a little bit to take his line away and I got a good run down the backstretch.”

When asked if he would have been able to make the pass without making the contact, Majeski quickly and honestly said, “No.”

Frustrated after dominating the race and not coming home with the win, Nason will keep a reminder of this race in his pocket.

“I guess you don’t even give the guy a chance,” Nason said of Majeski. “We raced how many laps, I gave him a ton of room and he ran me over. I will remember it and he’s got two coming from me.”

There was a positive side to Nason’s night as he mentioned the momentum he believes the team has going forward.

“It definitely gives us momentum, especially being the second one that has slipped out of my hands.”

Majeski and Nason will see each other on track once again on July 15 when the ARCA Midwest Tour makes a stop at Grundy County Speedway (IL).
