Lutz Will Start Wednesday Where He Finished Tuesday

Craig Lutz will start Wednesday night’s John Blewett, III Memorial in the same place he finished Tuesday night at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) – the number one spot.

Matt Hirschman set fast time in qualifying for the 76-lap feature, circling the Florida half-mile in 17.267 seconds.  Hirschman enters Wednesday’s race tied with Anthony Nocella for the World Series points standings.  Nocella was third-fastest, behind Craig Lutz.

After a two-car invert, Lutz will start on the pole with Hirschman alongside him on the front row. Lutz won Tuesday night’s 35-lap feature after a late-race duel with Hirschman and Nocella.

Wednesday’s race is in honor of John Blewett, III, a long-time Modified racer who was a four-time winner of the Turkey Derby and two-time winner of the North-South Shootout. Blewett lost his life in an accident at Thompson Speedway on August 16, 2007.
