Tickets for spectators are not the only items going fast in advance of the 49th Annual Snowball Derby at Pensacola’s Five Flags Speedway. Testing days for participating teams are also being claimed at a fast rate, with the dates closest to the Derby already going by the wayside. But for teams hoping to turn a few laps round Five Flags Speedway, there are still early opportunities available before the Thanksgiving Weekend.
“The latest test dates on the weekend before the Derby are pretty much full at this point. That is when some of the teams from out of town come in and just stay for race week. But, we still have openings available before Thanksgiving,” said Tim Bryant, Promoter of Five Flags Speedway and the Snowball Derby.
Bryant is encouraging teams to take advantage of the open test day known as the Snowball Preview on Saturday, November 19 as the best time for teams to come out and test.
For teams that still wish for a private test day, the month of November all the way up until the Snowball Preview, for the most part, is wide open.
Teams looking for information about booking a test date or more information on the Snowball Preview can visit www.5flagsspeedway.com or call the track office at 850-944-8400.
The 49th Annual Snowball Derby weekend kicks off with the Cat Country/WEAR-TV3 Green Flag Party on Wednesday, November 30. On-track activities start Thursday, December 1, for the opening practice rounds for the Snowball Derby Super Late Models and Snowflake 100 Pro Late Models. The Five Flags Butler U-Pull-It Bombers and The Dock at Pensacola Sportsman divisions will also have feature events on Snowball Derby Thursday.
The top Snowball Derby starting spots will be set on Friday, December 2 during WXBM 102.7 Pole Night at Five Flags. The Five Flags Faith Chapel Super Stocks and Modifieds will also battle in their Snowball Derby features after Super Late Model qualifying.
The Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100 takes center stage on Saturday, December 3 as the top Pro Late Model racers in the country qualify and battle for 100 laps at Five Flags. In addition, Saturday’s action features the final 50-lap qualifying event for Snowball Derby drivers to make one last effort to qualify for the 300-lap Super Late Model race. The Beef O Brady’s Pro Trucks will also have a 50-lap feature on Snowball Derby Saturday.
Then on Sunday, December 4, the green flag will drop on the 49th Annual Snowball Derby at 2 p.m. CT at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway.
