One of the nation’s richest pavement short track races will once again be available to a worldwide audience in 2019. Speed51.com and the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series announced Thursday that the 5th Annual Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway (CA) will be streamed live on the Speed51 Network.

Speed51 will broadcast the event for premium (monthly and yearly) subscribers on February 1-2 from the Bakersfield, California oval.   The 300-lap Super Late Model feature, which is contested under the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour banner, pays $30,000 to the winner, making it one of the richest races in the country.

“We’re excited to have Speed51.com broadcast the 5th Annual Winter Showdown, as it showcases some of the best Super Late Model drivers in North America for those that can’t make it to the event,” said Brian Olsen of SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series.  “The Winter Showdown is one of the premier Super Late Model races in the country and thanks to Speed51 for helping it to gain the notoriety it has received.  The sun will be out and the cars are going to look awesome during the broadcast at the beautiful Kern County Raceway next weekend (February 1-2).”

Along with the massive purse, the event has quickly become one of the most prestigious and competitive Super Late Model races in the country.  More than 40 drivers are already entered into this year’s running of the race, including the likes of Tyler Ankrum, Derek Kraus, Ty Majeski, Stephen Nasse, Preston Peltier, Jeremy Doss, Derek Thorn and Donnie Wilson.

“The Winter Showdown has quickly become one of the top short track racing events in North America,” said Speed51.com Editor Brandon Paul.  “Living on the opposite coast in the state of Maine, I’ve been able to watch this event the last three years on Speed51.  This year, I’m getting the chance to go out to California for the race and I couldn’t be more pumped up.  We believe that more and more fans will watch the Winter Showdown on Speed51 and then make their plans to attend the race in future years.”

While it pays big money to win the Winter Showdown, it does not take big money to watch for fans who are unable to make the trip to the state-of-the-art half-mile for the event.  For $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year, fans can become a Speed51 Network premium member and watch the live Winter Showdown coverage Friday and Saturday at no additional cost.

Joining the Speed51 Network also gives members access to over 70 live race broadcasts throughout the year, as well as hundreds of on-demand videos.  With race highlights, exclusive interviews, on-board camera footage, and more, Speed51 Network premium members gain access to tons of content to fill their short-track-racing needs.  Click here to become a Speed51 premium member today.
