MOORESVILLE, N.C. – As the 2016 Late Model season approaches, LFR Chassis continues to improve and build on the success of its LFR Driver Development Group. A new partnership between LFR DDG and Late Model expert Ricky Turner is set to further expand the team’s success with the creation of a satellite shop in Georgia and the addition of the experience and leadership of Turner, a successful crew chief in the Late Model Series.

“Bringing someone on with Ricky’s experience will just add to the depth we currently have at LFR,” said Rob Fuller, President of LFR Chassis. “Ricky has worked with several other manufactures in the past and his compliments on the LFR Chassis meant a lot to all of us here. The experience between Jeff Fultz and Ricky Turner will be a great resource for our customer base to pull from. There are a lot of great things going on at LFR and this is definitely one of them.”

Turner, who began racing in the early 1990’s, is well known for his experience as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Chase Elliott’s crew chief in the Late Model Series. Over the span of six to seven years together, the pair won numerous championships and racked up several prestigious wins including two Snowball Derby victories, the Winchester 400 and the All American 400.

With the recent announcement of 13-year-old Chandler Smith joining the LFR DDG team, Rob Fuller grasped the opportunity to allow Smith to grow and further his Late Model competition skills by officially partnering him with Turner.

“I’m excited to work with Rob Fuller and Chandler Smith this year,” said Turner. “With Chase racing for Hendrick Motorsports this year, he’s not going to be very active in the short track scene due to his busy schedule. I had been talking with Chandler and his father Mike for a couple of years now, just giving them advice on how to move up in racing. They offered me the chance to visit Rob’s shop and talk with him, and one thing led to another and we came up with this partnership deal for 2016.”

Smith, a Jasper, Ga. native, started racing at the age of four and most recently secured INEX Bandalero Bandits National Championships during his last two seasons with the series. Smith competed in one Super Late Model race last summer and is looking to gain more experience this year.

“This year I’m focusing on helping Chandler run well and be in contention for a win each week,” continued Turner. “The biggest thing I can do for him this year is just advise him on the right ways to race and help him learn the correct ways to go about business on the track. If I can show him the do’s and don’ts of racing, then he’s going to get better and better every time we hit the track.”
