The Race of Champions is the most historic race in the Legend that is Modified racing. For 65 years, the toughest drivers to ever grace the wheel of a 600-horsepower open-wheel machine have won the RoC. Now the race returns to a venue etched in Modified history… Oswego Speedway (Sep 15 – 17) in New York. Now you can be part of the event in the form of lap sponsorship, but there’s less than 24-hours left to do so.
A select number of laps remain for the 66th running of the Race of Champions. The laps are being sold by the Spaulding Foundation for Injured Drivers for a minimum of $50 per lap. The deadline for purchasing a lap is 5 p.m. ET on Friday, September 9.
“Betty Sherwood is an all-star in this sport. Her support over so many years is unequaled by anyone,” said Joe Skotnicki, owner of the Race of Champions Tours. “When she partnered with us to handle the lap program it was truly a blessing and the work she has done has been nothing short of incredible in a very short time. We are close to selling all of the laps and hope to close them out. Many said it couldn’t be done, but when you have someone like Betty steering the ship, there is not one ounce of quitting or giving up and she won’t until all of the laps for the 250 are sold.”
The leader of each lap is not guaranteed to be the recipient of the lap money. The Spaulding Foundation has a “Luck of the Draw” that will be predetermined before the start of the 250-lap race. Positions 1-15 will be eligible for the “Luck of the Draw” selection for each lap.
Laps are available for purchase via check or credit card by contacting Betty Sherwood at 607-759-7881 or [email protected].
