Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Austin Green proved he has a bright future in racing during his first-ever pavement Late Model race last Saturday, when Green brought the Lee Faulk Racing and Development machine home in sixth place during the Myrtle Beach 250 at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

Green has been racing predominantly in Legends Cars the past few years and Saturday was his first time in the Southeast Limited Late Model division. He was fastest in the Saturday morning practice and qualified third quickest for the Myrtle Beach 250 against a stout field of 41 entries.

Green’s Late Model debut is reminiscent of the success his father, former NASCAR driver David Green, had at the same track. The elder Green scored a pole and win in NASCAR’s XFINITY series at Myrtle Beach Speedway in 1996.

“Man, I had fun out there for my first race in this car at this track,” Austin Green said. “I learned so much, especially about tire management, being patient and racing the race track. I can’t thank the guys at Lee Faulk Racing enough for giving me such good car. I’m looking forward to the future and building on this.”

Lee Faulk Racing and Development Operations Manager Michael Faulk was also very pleased with the result.

“Austin did a fantastic job racing the track,” he said. “He showed he had speed and his maturity is beyond his years. He has a lot of wins in his future and we are excited to be a part of that development.”
