(Mooresville, N.C., August 25, 2014–) Mason Mitchell appeared to have victory within his sights Sunday afternoon at the Madison International Speedway in the Herr’s Live Life with Flavor 200 until lap 181 when he lost power. An electrical problem in the No. 98 Musselman’s-Wildlife Foundation of Florida-TTS Ford left the sophomore driver 14th in the final rundown.

“I am in shock right now” Mitchell said after the race. “We took the lead on the final restart and going off into turn one all of the sudden I had no power. With Grant having his problem we looked like we were going to have a great points day but unfortunately we didn’t make it to the end. I can’t thank Jamie Jones and everyone on this No. 98 team enough for putting us in a position to win. As a driver that’s all you want is to be in a position to win and we were.”

Rain washed out qualifying Saturday for the second straight week allowing the No. 98 to start from the pole position.

Mitchell led the first 35 circuits until Grant Enfinger made his way around for the lead. Mitchell continued to stalk Enfinger and used lapped traffic to his advantage to retake the lead on lap 53. Mitchell brought his No. 98 Ford Fusion down pit-road on lap 61 under the yellow flag to the attention of veteran crew chief Jamie Jones. Jones opted for two Hoosier tires and fuel.

On the restart Mitchell positioned himself in the second spot until lap 162 when Justin Boston maneuvered around Mitchell for the runner-up spot. The final caution waved on lap 172 for leader Enfinger stopping on the frontstretch.

Mitchell captured the lead on the final restart from the outside, until lap 181 when he lost power while leading. The No. 98 limped down pit-road with a broken master switch leaving Mitchell and the No. 98 team 14th in the final rundown. Mitchell led four times for a total of 54 laps.

With Mitchell finishing 14th and Enfinger 15th the point lead remains a 25 point lead with four races to go for Mitchell and the No. 98 team.
