Montgomery, AL – With action kicking off in Daytona Fl. this weekend the racing world will change their focus to Montgomery, Al as some of the top short track aces will compete in the “Show me the Money” R.S. Trucking Spring Explosion 125. This annual event featuring the pro late model division will showcase both young drivers and some of the top late model drivers in the country. Last year this series showcased 56 different drivers competing in eight events.
Casey Roderick, the 2016 “Show me the Money” Champion will return to defend his championship and hopes to take home the hardware this season. Roderick coming off two major wins to start his season is planning to make it three in a row March 4th.
Bobby Knox Jr driver of the Shelby Concrete No. 30 finished second in 2016 points and scored one win in the “Show me the Money” series is hoping to keep his momentum going after a late season win at Crisp Motorsports park in 2016.
Justin South who was third in points with one win would like to start his year off with a victory in the 125 lap event. Mixed in the top five in 2016 was young gun Perry Patino who finished fourth in the points standing. He has set his eyes on the top spot and plans to see victory lane with crew chief Mike Garvey.
Hayden, Alabama driver Augie Grill finished fifth in points with two wins on a limited schedule and calls Montgomery Motor Speedway his home track. The Grand American race car chassis builder is always a threat at the historic ½ mile track and hopes to continue his success coming off a Snowflake win in December.
Action will kick off Thursday and Friday as the track will off practice for teams from 12-5 each day. Friday night teams can participate in an open practice from 6-9. Saturday pits open at 11am for the 3 racing divisions. Grandstands will open at 4pm Budweiser qualifying at 5pm and the green flag drops at 6. The fans will enjoy racing in 3 divisions with the season opener for the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour, The Coca Cola Street Stocks and the main event the “Show me the Money” R.S. Trucking Spring Explosion 125.
