yle Benjamin, the youngest race winner in ARCA Series history and a development driver for seven-time NASCAR championship-winning organization Roush Fenway Racing, will run a full-season slate of NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races in 2015.
The 17-year-old driver will pilot a No. 27 Ford Fusion out of his family’s race shop in Easley, S.C. Kevin Reed, a race-winning crew chief in the ARCA Series, will serve in the same capacity for Benjamin’s team.
“This is shaping up to be a really big season for my family’s team and for me personally,” said Benjamin. “NASCAR’s K&N East Series is filled with young talent – it’s where the competition is – and I view 2015 as a chance to prove myself against some of the best young short track talent in the country.”
Though 2015 will be his first full season competing in a NASCAR-sanctioned series, Benjamin is familiar with the K&N East division. In his first K&N East start, he started and finished third at Dover International Speedway (Del.) in 2013. Benjamin is also a two-time race winner in the ARCA Series and has amassed 16 victories and two regional championships across various Super Late Model divisions. In 2013, he was voted by a panel of short track racing experts as Speed51.com’s “No. 1 Draft Pick” among racing’s top young drivers.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East begins its 14-race schedule on Sunday, Feb. 15 at New Smyrna Speedway (Fla.), where Benjamin claimed the World Series of Asphalt Super Late Model championship in 2012. The series will also travel to tracks such as Bristol (Tenn.), Richmond (Va.), Iowa, New Hampshire, Watkins Glen (N.Y.) and Dover, acting as companion events for NASCAR’s three national touring series.
