KINGSPORT, Tenn. (Dec. 4, 2014) – Kingsport Speedway released their 2015 season schedule on Monday (Dec.1st). Set to begin in late March and wrap-up the final weekend of August, the season will feature a total of 20 races, including NASCAR Whelen All-American Series races and special events.
The first two events of the season will be Saturday afternoon races on March 21st and 28th, before moving back to Friday nights on April 3rd. Weekly racing is set to end on August 28th for championship night.
“We couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming 2015 season,” said general manager Karen Tunnell. “Our NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions featured great racing in 2014 and we expect no less from them this coming season. We are also thrilled to be hosting multiple special events throughout 2015. Our teams, fans, sponsors and the entire community will surely be treated to a great season at Kingsport Speedway.”
Other schedule highlights include the Pro All Star Series and KOMA Unwind Modifieds doubleheader on Friday, May 8th. Also expected to return are the Southeast Super Truck Series and the new Southeast Super Street Series, along with the Knights of Destruction and many more events. Dates for those events are still being determined.
Racing began in 1965 at Kingsport Speedway, making 2015 the track’s golden 50th year. A “birthday bash” is set to take place sometime in the summer; a date is still being determined. “We’re going to celebrate the speedway’s 50th birthday at some point in the summer with live bands, vendors and much more,” said Tunnell. “We haven’t worked out a date just yet, we’ll have more information out soon.”
