Each year Speed51.com expands their shot track coverage from coast to coast while offering looks at new tracks, new series and new events. This weekend, Speed51 will head to Fayetteville Motor Speedway for the second leg of the I-95 Late Model Challenge. 51 will have video highlights of the I-95 Late Model Challenge Series on the Speed51 Network.
The series will be making its first stop in “Boom City” for 2019. In all, there will be three stops at the Fayetteville track. This Saturday, the Late Models will be battling for a hefty $5,100 winner’s check.
The I-95 Late Model Challenge Series is in it’s sixth season and will be making their 15th stop at Fayetteville. Past winners have included Ben Watkins, Shaun Harrell and Dustin Mitchell, all with three wins each. Russell Erwin and Willie Milliken have both scored two victories, while Shawn Sewell scored a lone win back in 2015.
Of those names listed above, they had a mixed bag of results during the first race back in April. Michael Batten was the winner, as the former FUEL Racing Series winner picked up his first I-95 Series win. Shaun Harrell had a strong second-place run with Willie Milliken placing seventh.
Over the years, the championship battle has been extremely tight with titles going right down to the wire. Russell Erwin won the first championship by a single point in 2014. On average the title has come down to about 20 points at the end of the season. After Saturday’s race in Boom City, the championship battle will begin to take shape.
