WATCH LIVE: Pro Late Models at Nashville
Perhaps one of the most eager Pro Late Model drivers that is ready to race for a win is former track champion Michael House. During his last race at Five Flags Speedway, House experienced one of the worst crashes of his racing career piloting a Super Late Model in Blizzard Series practice.
“It was a bad deal last week, the throttle hung and we went really hard into the wall. We had a really good car and that was the hardest I’ve ever hit,” House told Speed51.
There was not even time for House to attempt to try and get a slide going so that the car could avoid a head-on collision with the concrete.
“You drive down in the corners so deep that by the time you lift and realize the throttle is hung, you’re along for the ride. But, you lock the brakes up so the backend is steering the car towards the wall. Man, it hit almost head on and it didn’t travel far, it just stopped, and that’s the worst you can hit. It knocked me out for a moment.”
It is another ‘highest of highs and lowest of lows’ moment for House and the No. 1 Late Model team in the last year.
“I was just like, ‘Can our luck not get any worse?’ All the stuff our car owner Jonathan Brown has been through with his family. We hit the wall down there last year, but we came back and felt like we made a lot of gains, then to hit it again.”
House is confident that the team can rebound this coming Saturday night and be right back in contention for yet another Fairgrounds win.
“You just got to move on and rebuild. We’ll go forward to this weekend, we got a good car, and a good opportunity to compete for the win.”
