Nick Hoffman made it two wins in a row in DIRTcar UMP Modified action at Volusia Speedway Park (FL) on Wednesday night. Hoffman battled former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver David Stremme early and held off other NASCAR notables Ty Dillon and Kenny Wallace to secure another DIRTcar Nationals win.
Wallace kept Hoffman within striking distance but was never able to get close enough to complete a pass for the lead.
“[Kenny Wallace] is tough everywhere we go. I knew he would race us clean when I looked up at the scoreboard and saw he was in second. They told me in the infield to hustle it for three more laps at the end, so I gave it everything I had,” Hoffman said. “Everything held together and we got us another Gator (trophy).”
Nightly doubleheaders at Volusia run through Sunday, Feb. 20. The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and DIRTcar UMP Modifieds return on Thursday for night three of DIRTcar Nationals.
