Brian Hoar and Mark Kraus pocketed an extra $551 after the 47th Annual Snowball Derby by being the highest finishing drivers from the Northeast and Midwest regions. The annual bounties for the two regions, which are put up annually by Speed51.com, are offered in hopes of bringing more drivers from those regions to Pensacola, Florida for North America’s most prestigious short track event.
Speed51.com celebrated its 14th year of coverage of the nation’s most prestigious asphalt short track event by once again offering these bounties for drivers from the Midwest and Northeast.
“The Snowball Derby is the biggest short track race in America,” said Speed51.com owner and veteran NASCAR broadcaster, Bob Dillner. “Drivers come from all over the country to be in this race, and we wanted to reward the highest finishers from two different regions who came to run this prestigious race.”
Hoar is an eight-time American Canadian Tour champion, and a three-time winner of the Milk Bowl at Vermont’s Thunder Road Speedbowl. He traveled all the way to Pensacola from Williston, VT to qualify for his first ever Snowball Derby. He finished 20th, the highest finish of any Northeast driver, to take home the bounty.
Kraus traveled south to Five Flags Speedway from Wisconsin. He’s scored three top-10 finishes at Oktoberfest at LaCrosse Fairground Speedway in Wisconsin. Kraus made his first career Snowball Derby start this year and finished 16th, the highest of any Midwest driver.
“Brian Hoar and Mark Kraus are two of the best in Late Model racing from their respective regions,” said Dillner. “I’ve owned a team that competed in the Snowball Derby before and I know the money and time that it takes in order to compete in this race. We offered up these bounties once again in order to help teams with some of the costs it takes to get to Pensacola for the Derby. I’m hoping they both had a great time this weekend and will consider returning once again in 2015.”
