Cody Haskins stamped his claim as the top Pro Truck in the nation with a dominant performance to open the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby. Haskins, the Vice President of KRC Power Steering, topped the practice chart, set a new track record in time trials and and went flag-to-flag in the 50-lap feature Thursday evening at Five Flags Speedway.
The win was Haskins first at the Snowball Derby, finally notching a win after coming up short in his four prior attempts.
“This is about the only place in the country that I haven’t won at,” Haskins said with a laugh. “I have been fortunate over the years to have some good supporters and good backing. We have worked our tails off to get here. So, it’s nice to finally get one on Derby weekend.”
Haskins never surrendered the lead, but fought his way through heavy lapped traffic for the majority of the event. The No. 38 truck was on rails as he knifed through the field, winning the event by more than eight seconds over Grant Thompson and Donnie Hamrac.
“That’s why we build these things,” Haskins said. “We spend the time and money away from home and my wife, and my little girl Evelyn. It’s nice to come down here and win this for them.”
