Short track racing on the West Coast will be shining this weekend with the inaugural SPEARS Manufacturing Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, California.  The $25,000 to win, $150,000 purse has attracted over 60 entries to travel to the half-mile oval for the 250-lap main event this Saturday night.

This event is attracting not only the best on the West Coast, but also some of short track racing’s biggest stars from other areas around the United States.  2014 Southern Super Series champion Bubba Pollard and former World Crown 300 victor Preston Peltier are both on the entry list. They are making the trip west to challenge David Mayhew, Derek Thorn and other west coast hot shoes.

Recently, the staff traded in their reporter’s hat and turned into oddsmakers to determine the favorites and underdogs for this weekend’s inaugural event.  As always with this popular feature on 51, there is no disrespect meant with these odds.  The odds are simply based off of past performances and have been created for fans to have some fun leading up to the event.

Based upon these odds, who would you put your money on for Saturday night’s 250-lap Winter Showdown main event?
