LUCAMA, NC – Haley Moody answered the challenge of Sunday’s Halloween Spooktacular at Southern National Motorsports Park by scoring a third place finish in a race that featured the largest car count of the year for the Limited Late Models.
Moody started the race in the seventh position after her 16.154 second qualifying lap during European Style group qualifying. Through the duration of the early and middle stages of the race, she worked her way up to the third position. She found herself in contention for the win in the closing laps of the race but a miss on Andrew Grady’s restart shuffled her back to the fourth position. She was able to reclaim the third position.
“It was a good race for all of us. I probably didn’t have anything for Joey [Throckmorton]. He had a really good car, saved his tires. Clay [Jones] was really good all day. We just didn’t have enough at the end to do something with them. We had a really good car. I wish we could have won but a top three is good.”
With a third place finish in the Halloween Spooktacular under her belt, she now looks ahead to the Southeast Limited Late Model Series (SELLM) race at Myrtle Beach Speedway on Sunday, November 16th. Last year, she scored a sentimental victory in the SELLM Challenger race at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Following the SELLM race, she will turn her attention to the Thanksgiving All-Star Classic at Southern National Motorsports Park on November 30th.
