Saturday night in Cordele, Georgia an extra $1,000 will be paid out to either Kyle Grissom or Donnie Wilson for winning the “Tri-State Bonus Bucks.”  That money will be awarded to either Grissom or Wilson for having the best average finish at the most recent Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco events at Five Flags Speedway in Florida, Mobile International Speedway in Alabama, and this weekend’s race in Georgia.

“That would be nice,” said Wilson.  “It would dang sure be nice.   We travel a long way.  This series has done good stuff to get people to the races.  This is just an added bonus.  I think it would be pretty cool if we could walk away with that and still have the points lead and everything would be great and wonderful.”
Grissom echoed Wilson’s thoughts on the bonus money.
“It would be a real big deal,” Grissom said.  “The fact that having the best average finish over three races settles it is cool.  We just have to focus on our game plan and not really worry about that.”
Grissom said the key is getting the handling working right in practice at this race track because the team’s notebook for Crisp Motorsports Park isn’t too thick.
“The last time I ran there was SpeedFest two years ago,” said Grissom.  “We ran second.  I really like Cordele.  It’s a cool race track.  We don’t get to run there much so it’s a little bit of a challenge when you go there.  It’s a whole different kind of track to get the handling on.  It’s a real nice facility and it’s always fun going down there.”
For Wilson, the key to success at Crisp Motorsports Park is a little different.
“The biggest story with me?  Stay on the race track,” said Wilson, who went off the track and through the watermelon patch in turn three at SpeedFest in January.
“Cordele is not a very good track for me,” Wilson said with a laugh.  “I’ll just tell you that.  I haven’t had much luck there really.  Hopefully it will change this weekend.  We’ll give it our best shot.  That’s about all I can say.  The smaller race tracks I just don’t have anything that I’m really comfortable with.  I think it’s just me and my driving style more than anything.  Hopefully we can hit on something.”
If Wilson or Grissom hit on something then one of them will be walking away with an extra thousand dollars on Saturday night.
Practice for the Southern Super Series 125 will go from 2:30-4 p.m. ET on Saturday.  Qualifying will take place at 6:45 p.m., with racing to follow at 7:30 p.m. ET.
