Hudson, NH – Teenager Derek Griffith looks to return to the podium after the 17 year-old saw a two race podium finish streak come to an end as he wound up finishing in the 18th spot at Star Speedway on August 16, 2014.
Fast forward a week and the MOM’s of Manchester/LCM Racing team returns to the track that Derek cut his teeth on, Hudson international Speedway in Hudson, NH for the Hudson Hugger 100
Griffith raced numerous years on this unique ¼-mile oval, racking up many victories and gaining valuable experience that he hopes will serve him well and bring the No. 12 Tyngsboro Motors Toyota Camry to victory lane.
Derek talks about the upcoming Hudson race and the events that happened the previous week at Star Speedway, “Hudson is a very fun track to race on, it’s tight and unpredictable. We usually put on a good show there and with Louie’s [Crew Chief Louie Mechalides] set-up, I expect great things. Last week at Star we had the fastest car in the pits, we got up to fifth in the feature and then we got together with Larry [Gelinas] and I went spinning, we needed to bring the car into the pits and I came out of the pits, 5 laps down. We were still fast but disappointed in the outcome as we finished 18th.”
Griffith currently sits fourth in the season long championship points battle, just 38 points out of first place.
The Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) recently announced an additional event will be added this year and that they’ll be part of Star Speedway’s “Star Classic” weekend in early September. This gives every driver an additional opportunity for valuable points as the season is winding down. Derek commented on the announcement, “I’m a racer, I want to race when I can, it’s exciting that the series added another event, every opportunity I have to race, I try and take it; I’m happy we have a chance to redeem ourselves at Star Speedway.
Post time for the Hudson Hugger 100 from Hudson International Speedway is Sunday August 24, 2014 at 5:45 pm.
