Derek Griffith continued his strong showing at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway, setting fast time for the Super Late Models on Thursday evening.
Griffith currently leads the Super Late Model points standings, with two wins to his credit on the week. He’ll be in great position for another win to start Thursday’s racing.
Griffith once again set fast time in Super Late Model qualifying, with a time of 17.755 seconds. A two-car invert kept him on the front row, with Daniel Dye leading the field to green for Thursday’s 35-lap feature race.
Jesse Love, Jett Noland and Stephen Nasse completed the top five in Super Late Model qualifying.
Griffith currently leads Jacob Goede by 14 points in the Super Late Model championship battle. Goede will start sixth in Thursday’s feature.
In the Tour-type Modifieds, Ronnie Williams set fast time for the division with a time of 17.247 seconds. The invert draw also produced a two for the Modifieds, keeping Williams on the front row with Ron Silk.
Jon McKennedy, Matt Hirschman and Patrick Emerling rounded out the Tour-type Modified top five.
The Tour-type Modifieds and Super Late Models will compete in 35-lap features on Thursday night, along with the Pro Late Models and Florida Modifieds. While two nights remain in the World Series following Thursday’s racing, it is the penultimate night of racing for each division.
