Dramatic entrances, serious tension, high anticipation, plus fun and games; that’s only day one of the 51st Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. Following a busy day of important work for Late Model teams, drivers, teams and race fans will have an evening to kick back and have a good ole time with the return of the Green Flag Pit Party presented by Cat Country 98.7.

After a full morning and afternoon of load-in and tech for both Super Late Models and Pro Late Models in the infield, the focus shifts to the big white tent on the Five Flags midway behind the main grandstand. At 6 p.m. CT all drivers entered for the Snowball Derby and Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100 will participate in the all-important draw for their spot in the qualifying order.

For the second straight year, Pure Stock teams will get the spotlight on-track at 7 p.m. as they lead off the week’s racing schedule with their 50-lap feature.

The qualifying draw and the Pure Stock feature will be streamed live on Speed51.com.  Those who purchase a five-day video ticket for the Snowball Derby, as well as those who are Speed51 Network premium subscribers, will have access to Wednesday night’s stream.

The evening concludes back at the tent with the Green Flag Pit Party. As has been the case in past years there will be plenty of food and beverages on sale for all in attendance for both fans and race teams, who you can often expect to drop by and walk among the crowd.

Cat Country’s Cat Pak Morning Show host Brent Lane will be the master of ceremonies for the Green Flag Pit Party, with plenty of door prizes up for grabs for race fans, as well as plenty of great music.

It’s a night of excitement that will set the tone for one of short track racing’s greatest weekends.

Late Model teams will take to the track for the first time on Thursday, November 29 in their first rounds of practice. Thursday night’s racing program features 50-lap events for the Sportsmen and Outlaw Stock competitors.

The Friday of Snowball Derby weekend is often called the most intense day in short track racing, as Super Late Model drivers compete in qualifying in hopes of securing their spot in Sunday’s field. The Modifieds will also be in action on Friday night in a 75-lap feature.

Saturday, December 1 is jam-packed with racing action. With qualifying for the Pro Late Model Snowflake 100, last chance races for both the Snowflake 100 and Snowball Derby, the Snowflake 100 itself and a 50-lap Pro Truck feature, there is no shortage of excitement for fans at the track.

Finally, the biggest day of the year comes on Sunday, December 2, the day of the 51st Annual Snowball Derby. Pre-race festivities begin at Noon CT, with the class photo at 12:30 p.m. and driver introductions beginning at 1:15 p.m. The green flag will drop on the 51st Annual Snowball Derby at 2:00 p.m.
