With just one month remaining until the hottest short track racing event of the year, things are heating up at the Five Flags Speedway office in Pensacola, Florida as fans from around the country call to reserve their tickets for the 47th Annual Snowball Derby.

Five Flags Speedway and Snowball Derby promoter Tim Bryant says that tickets for this year’s event are selling at a great rate but that there are still great reserved seats available for the fans wanting to experience “The Derby.”

“Our phones in the office are ringing quite frequently this time of year,” said Bryant.  “The good news for the fans out there that haven’t called us yet is that there are still some great seats available for this year’s race.  We’ve had people calling from many different areas of the country this year and we are all very excited to see all of the fans come out on December 7.”

With the entry lists for both the Snowball Derby and Snowflake 100 being released earlier this week on Speed51.com, the weekend will offer fans in attendance a look at some of the best there is in Late Model racing.  From local track champions, to touring series champions, to a potential NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, the weekend certainly won’t lack any star power.

“This year’s event is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Snowball Derby’s I’ve ever been a part of,” Bryant said.  “The best of the best from each region, each tour and each local track will be here that weekend.  I’m hoping I’ll be able to find at least a few minutes to sit back and enjoy this one because it’s going to be a really fun race to watch with all of the talent out there.”

2011 Snowball Derby champion and NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Chase Elliott will make his return to the Snowball Derby just one year after winning the race and being disqualified in post-race technical inspection.  Two-time race winner and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series winner Erik Jones will also be in attendance driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports.  The Michigan native will be looking to become the first ever driver to win three straight Snowball Derby’s.

John Hunter Nemechek, the 2014 All-American 400 winner and the son of “Front Row” Joe Nemechek, will enter both the Snowflake 100 and the Snowball Derby.  He will be joined in the Snowflake 100 by drivers like Augie Grill, Bubba Pollard, Johanna Long, and 2014 American-Canadian Tour champion Joey Polewarczyk, Jr.

Add all of those drivers up and you have a weekend in Pensacola, Florida that race fans won’t want to miss out on.

Fans in town for the Snowball Derby are encouraged to call any of the preferred accommodations listed on the official site of the event, www.snowballderby.com, but those fans with motor homes and campers who have not already reserved a camping spot for Snowball Derby weekend should get one quickly.

“Camping and racing has become nothing short of phenomenal,” Bryant said.  “We have all of our on-site campground spaces that sell out quickly, but we also have a nice overflow lot down the street at the fairgrounds with full hook-ups. People can catch a shuttle that goes and comes to the track thought the day.  We have had some fans that have experienced that and prefer that rather than staying at the track.”

The 47th Annual Snowball Derby kicks off on Wednesday, December 3 with the Cat Country/WEAR TV3 Green Flag Party.  As the teams unload and begin the tech process, from 5-9 p.m. fans can meet the drivers and see the cars that will compete during Snowball Derby Weekend.

The first on-track activity comes on Thursday, as practice for the Super and Pro Late Models commence.  Later that evening, qualifying and feature action for the Five Flags Speedway Butler U-Pull-It Bomber and Beef O’Brady’s Sportsmen divisions will take place.

On Friday, December 5, it is WXBM 102.7 Pole Night, as the top 30 in Snowball Derby qualifying will be locked into Sunday’s 300-lap feature.  More practice for the Snowball Derby and Snowflake 100 cars will take place, as well as a full card of Super Stock and Modified action.

Then on Saturday, December 6, it’s the Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100 time trials, qualifying races and the 100-lap feature, plus final practice for the Snowball Derby cars, a 50-lap Pro Trucks feature and a 50-lap last-chance qualifying race to lock the final cars into the Snowball Derby.

Finally, the 47th Annual Snowball Derby will then go green on Sunday, December 7 at 2 p.m. ET at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL.
