Prior Lake, Minnesota teenager Grant Brown will attempt his first full season in the Big 8 Late Model Series this year beginning with the Spring Classic at Rockford Speedway (IL) next month.
The 17-year-old has raced Late Models at Elko Speedway (MN) for the last two years, finishing sixth and second in the season standings. Brown’s prominent 2017 season was capped off with feature wins at Elko and Dells Raceway Park (WI).
“I’m excited for this season, as it will be my first time running a touring series full time,” Brown told Speed51 powered by JEGS.
Brown attempted two Big 8 Series races last year at Elko Speedway and LaCrosse Speedway (WI), and qualified in at his home track for a 10th-place finish. While this was a solid start to his touring career, an ambitious Brown is looking for more in his first full year.
“I’d like to get a couple wins, Rookie of the Year, and a top-five finish in points,” Brown said.
The competition is expected to be stiff with top touring stars like Michael Bilderback and Jeremy Mueller, as well as the home track stars that emerge at each of the seven different tracks.
While on track, Brown will also be raising awareness for Muscular Dystrophy by carrying the “Laps4MD” logo on his car along with his sponsors. For every lap that Brown leads, he will donate $1 to improve the lives of the families affected.
The Spring Classic Big 8 Series season opener takes place on Sunday, April 15. You will be able to find updates from the Spring Classic right here on Speed51.com.
