The month of May was scheduled to be a busy one for the teams of the Granite State Pro Stock Series. Unfortunately, as the country battles the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 season has been put on hold. Series officials announced Sunday that all three events scheduled for the month of May have been put on hold.
“The health and safety of our fans and race teams is our number-one priority,” stated series promoter Mike Parks. “As much as we want to be at the track, we will respect the directives of our state officials. We are in a situation where we have more questions than answers. We want to get going just as soon as we can, and we are in contact with all of the track owners on a weekly basis.”
There were three races scheduled for May, all in the state of New Hampshire. The event at Star Speedway had already been postponed and now the two-day May madness event at Lee USA Speedway has gone by the wayside as well. The final event of the month was to be held at the Monadnock Speedway. Recently, the Winchester, New Hampshire speed plant announced the cancelation of their May schedule.
At this time, the posted schedule has been put on hold with the intention of picking it up when allowed by the state of New Hampshire. In addition, a race has tentatively been added to the schedule on Friday, June 5 at Claremont Motorsports Park, if racing is permitted.
“Hopefully the racers and fans will continue to stay positive and be ready to come back when the situation allows,” Park said. “We all want to be racing sooner rather than later so we’ll keep our fingers crossed”.
