One of the hottest tickets in short track racing will soon be available to the general public. Tim Bryant, owner of Five Flags Speedway, has announced that after a successful renewal and upgrade process, reserved tickets for the 48th Annual Snowball Derby will be available for purchase beginning on Tuesday, August 18.

“The renewal process ran through August the 1st and our renewals came in at a little better pace than they did last year, so we’re thankful for that,” said Bryant. “Since August 1 the girls in the ticket office have been processing upgrades and they’re getting near the end of that. By the end of this week they should be ready so we’re going to reload on Monday the 17th and on Tuesday morning, August 18th we’ll be open for business for the remaining reserved seats.

“We still have plenty of good seats left, but we do encourage folks to purchase sooner rather than later to make sure they can get as good of a seat as possible.”

The 48th Annual Snowball Derby will be held on Sunday, December 6 at the Pensacola, Florida half-mile oval.

Over the years, the race has become one of the most anticipated short track racing events in the country. In recent years, race fans from Maine, California, Canada and beyond have made their way to Pensacola for the prestigious Super Late Model race.

“With some entries from the West Coast, we’re actually getting some fans from the West Coast,” said Bryant. “Each year when we start filling the infield with the haulers on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. we always lead with the Canadian National Anthem because we have so many Canadian drivers that are participating. We cover a pretty broad area.”

In recent years, as a result of the hard by the Bryant family and their staff, the Snowball Derby has continuously gotten bigger and better. Still, Bryant remains humble and thankful for what the event has turned into.

“We have one of many great short track events in the country and it comes at a time of year and at a location that people like to visit,” Bryant stated. “We’ve been really fortunate in past years that it has grown to what it has become.

“The Snowball Derby, along with several other marquee short track events, I believe is a boost for short track racing. People realize that when you come to a short track event like this or several of the others, it’s about as good as you can get as far as racing action. We’re pretty proud of that.”

Tickets for the 48th Annual Snowball Derby can be purchased either in person at the Five Flags Speedway office or by calling 850-944-8400 Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
