A tradition that started 30 years ago will continue this weekend at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, Maine.  The 30th Annual Northeast Motorsports Expo will take place Friday, January 12 through Sunday, January 14 and will serve as the kickoff to the 2018 short track racing season in the Northeast.

Nearly 50 vendors and exhibits will be on display throughout the weekend, with many race cars showcasing their new looks for the upcoming season. In addition to the beautiful cars that will be on display, short track fans will also be able to visit the many tracks and tours in attendance to see what’s on tap in 2018.

300x250 Snowmobile Derby PPV 2018.01.21One of the highlights of the show will be the 2018 Helluva Good Pit Stop Challenge that will see 12 teams compete for bragging rights and $750 beginning Sunday at noon.

There will also be a Ladies Pit Stop Challenge, Tracks & Tours Pit Stop Challenge, Kids Pit Stop Challenge and a special Charity Pit Stop Challenge held Saturday evening.

Among those competing in the Charity Pit Stop Challenge will be Speed51.com Editor Brandon Paul, Mainely Motorsports host Steve Perry and the defending Ladies Pit Stop Challenge champions.  Each team will be sponsored and will donate a $500 check to charity, with the winning team donating a total of $1,000 to the charity of their choice.

For those looking to study up for the 2018 season, there will be an engine preventive maintenance seminar Saturday at 5 p.m. and a spotter seminar hosted by Shawn Waddell of Waddell Communications Saturday at noon.

Slugger the Sea Dog, the mascot for the Portland Sea Dogs (Double A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox), will be in attendance Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon.
